Teaching Philosophy
My approach to teaching is shaped by both neuroscience and over a decade of experience teaching movement.
I believe yoga is more than building strength or flexibility—it's an opportunity to develop awareness. The way we move is shaped by the way we pay attention, and learning to notice subtle sensations in the body is often the first step towards moving with greater ease, confidence and control.
As both a yoga teacher and neuroscience researcher, I am fascinated by how people learn movement. Every student learns differently, so rather than teaching a single "correct" way to practise, I use clear cues, thoughtful progressions and individual feedback to help each person develop a deeper understanding of their own body.
My teaching draws from a wide range of movement practices, including yoga, strength training, mobility work and contemporary movement science. Rather than following one style, I combine elements from different disciplines to create intelligent, adaptable classes that meet students where they are. My aim is not simply to help people become stronger or more flexible, but to help them become more aware, more resilient and more confident in the way they move.
Alongside teaching public classes and workshops, I also mentor and train yoga teachers, helping them apply principles of motor learning and neuroscience to improve the way they teach movement. My goal is to bridge the gap between science and practice, equipping teachers with evidence-informed tools to support learning while preserving the creativity and intuition that make great teaching so powerful.
Training
I completed my 200-hour teacher training in Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga with Heather Elton before continuing my studies with teachers including Ambra Vallo, David Kyle and Leon London. I have completed 500 hours of Ashtanga, Shamanism and Pranayama with Danny Paradise and more than 400 hours of Rocket Yoga training, alongside further study in Rocket, Yin and Mandala Yoga with The Yoga People.
Alongside my teaching, I completed an MPhil in Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Cambridge and am currently a PhD researcher in the Plasticity Lab at the MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit. As a Cambridge NeuroWorks Frontier Fellow (funded by ARIA), I am also developing wearable neurotechnology that explores how greater body awareness can support motor learning and improve health and wellbeing.
